🍲 Our Story

From Sunday Kitchens to a Culinary Movement

We’re Kavita & Akash, the husband-and-wife team behind Homemade Indian Food — a labour of love born from spice-stained aprons, bubbling pots, and the joy of feeding others from the heart.

Raised in Indian households where food was never just food — it was comfort, celebration, and connection — we grew up learning the art of cooking not from books, but from mums, aunties, and grandparents. Our earliest memories are filled with the sounds of mustard seeds crackling in oil, the aroma of fresh garam masala, and the warmth of sharing a home-cooked meal.

When we moved to the UK, we longed for those flavours — honest, bold, and deeply rooted in tradition. But we also realised something beautiful: there was a growing community here just as hungry for that connection to real Indian home cooking.

🌿 So, we started small.

Sunday meal kits made in our home kitchen. Cooking experiences hosted for curious foodies. Spice blends crafted the way our families made them — slow-roasted, fresh-ground, and full of soul.

What began as a way to stay close to our roots quickly became something more: a shared table where people from all walks of life could discover the joy of authentic Indian cooking — without shortcuts, preservatives, or pretence.

Dr. Akash Angral

Founder / CEO

Experienced architect who has practiced architecture for more than 20 years in the UK and in India as well as tutored design and building construction models within architectural universities. Dr Angral set up and ran a well-established architectural firm in India before moving to the UK in 2014. In 2019 he completed his PhD in Architecture and Digital Design from the School of Simulations and Visualisation at the prestigious and high-ranking Glasgow School of Art.

His PhD thesis ‘Reshaping Architect-Client Relationships and Digital Technologies’ prepared ArchiPal in its ambition to enhance how people live, work and connect by creating an intelligent PropTech interface enabling better architectural solutions benefiting clients and architects alike.

Alongside ArchiPal, Dr. Angral along with his wife also started working on another start-up centred around women empowerment addressing lack of authentic Indian food in the UK. Now, after 3 years HIF has established itself as a distinguished brand and serves the whole of the UK.
